End of July

I started my day off by getting coffee with an old friend, Molly.  It was nice to catch up.
After that I went to The Shop, got one of the new hats, set up a new board, and wrote this web-update
Burrito time at Illegal Pete's.
University banks.
New hats!
Ryan stretches for the big game.
Jan patiently observes.
The crowd anticipates, and Garrett delivers.  Good work buddy.
After skating, we headed to pho.  Jan and I arrived early and skated this bank.
Pho to celebrate.
Then we went to Ryan's for a second, it was a weird cat party over there.
Suspect for sure.
Ice cream is the only way to end a day.

Last Day

Megan is moving to St. Louis, so we hung out one last day before she left.

Started the day off with some coffee.
And then we had to take her dog, Gizmo, to the vet.
After business was handled, we went to the Denver Film Center to see Page One: Inside The New York Times.
The film shows the New York Times during the the first batch of Wikileaks' documents, demonstrates the importance of the paper in history, and how the organization is trying to survive in a world with easily accessible and free news.

Here is the trailer, go see it!

Also, good luck to my sister during her years at St. Louis Universities' School of Law!

Skate Camp!

My first skate camp of the summer.  As much as everyone complains about the heat and the location, I really enjoy skating with the kids, and the pizza.

I showed up early, and nobody was there yet.
So I spent some quality time with the roller, getting all stretched out.
Eventually some people showed up.
Tyler Price, healing up from battle.
13 staples.
Skate camp booth.
Natalie brought Javi!
 Cutest dog ever!
After skate camp we hung out at the Greer's.
And then I went home for my sister's going away part.  She's moving to St. Louis.

Derek Milton

Derek recently graduate from Metropolitan State College of Denver, moved to Los Angeles, and made a short film titled Misfortuate.  Check out his other films here.  I highly suggest the Mike Katz Guide To Dating.  Good work Derek!

Mrs. Dalloway Goes To The Big Game

I've been blowing it on the book postings lately with so much skating going on (which is definitely a good thing).  So I took a couple hours to sit down and finish Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf.  The novel is amazing.  Woolf took on the arduous task of writing an entire novel about one woman's day of planning and hosting a party in early 20th century England.  It sounds simple, but it is so much more than that.  I mean, look at how psyched my dog Maddie is on the book.
After I finished the novel I went to the Rockies game with my family.  'Twas a pretty good time.
Snacks!

Greeley

David met me in Thornton as  I got off work so that we could begin a journey to the desolate town north east of Denver known as Greeley.

When we arrived in Greeley, we found these hooligans chilling at some perfect ledges.  I was wondering why everyone wasn't skating, but I soon discovered that skating ledges in 100 degree heat sucks.
Ryan got two tricks here before we even showed up!
I skated the ledges for what felt like two hours.  It was not fun.  Thanks to Brando for sticking through the heat and filming all of us.
After I was done skating a couple of us decided to run through the sprinklers to cool off.  Poor mans Water World.
Rainbows!
I've never been to this restaurant before.  Ryan bought my burrito here, although I should've bought his for killing it.  Next time!
The gateway...
to a really good set.
David warms up.
But Shardy was the one who walked away with a banger on this thing.  People are going to be so psyched to see his part.
There are only three spots (that we know of/ go to) in Greeley, and we always go to them in the same order.  Ledges, 10 stair, bump.
Whitney got emo, but these two kept it positive and walked away with a trick each on the bump.  If you're counting, that's two tricks for Shardy and three for Ryan in one day!  Nice work guys!

River People

Solo session at Water World park.  This place is always pretty fun, they have the best flat bar, but there is usually a weird crowd.  Totally worth it though.
This thing sucks.

Broke both mine and Brandon's boards.  Thanks for letting me try your board Brando, sorry I blew it!
Colin got weird here. He rips and has the best style.
I had to go to The Shop and set up a new whip.
After that I met up with these guys at Tabor Center, where Colin got the gnarliest trick I've seen there.  The after party was at Toyko Joe's.
River Spot was a madhouse.
Utah! Nick and Joey.
Poor man's wakeboarding off of the bridge.
River people... so weird.
I was fried from the sun so I came home and played with Gizmo!
