My nuclear family went to visit my sister for Thanksgiving. We got there Wednesday evening, and left Saturday night. This is what my mom packs for such a short trip. Yikes.
Yeah, I got all my shit in there.Luke brought us inside.
Then we went to lunch. Megan was still in school and was not missed.
We met up with Megan at SLU, the law school she's going to. Seems like a typical college campus.
I intended to work on my Woolf thesis while in St. Louis, but I forgot my primary texts. Luckily, my sister was able to check them out of the library. Pretty cool cover of The Voyage Out as well.
Only SLU students can even go into the library. The irony of me needed A Room of One's One, an essay that discusses being locked out of a library, was not lost on me. Here is an excerpt:
"...but here I was actually at the door which leads into the library itself. I must have opened it, for instantly there issued, like a guardian angel barring the way with a flutter of black gown instead of white wings, a deprecating, silvery, kindly gentleman, who regretted in a low voice as he waved me back that ladies are only admitted to the library if accompanied by a Fellow of the College or furnished with a letter of introduction.
That a famous library has been cursed by a woman is a matter of complete indifference to a famous library. Venerable and calm, with all its treasures safe locked within its breast, it sleeps complacently and will, so far as I am concerned, so sleep for ever. Never will I wake those echoes, never will I ask for that hospitality again, I vowed as I descended the steps in anger".
Locked out.
We explored the SLU Law School. Here's Megan's faculty. The Prince of SLU Law.
We went back to the apartment and took naps. Gizmo is so cute.
Then Luke made an excellent dinner.
